Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!

Last weekend was my 40th birthday. We were busy with TBall and the Capital 10K. So, when Trevor asked me if I wanted a party I just say, no, we're all too busy.

I actually had a great birthday and was no less off by not having a party. If you missed it, click here.

Saturday, after Tball and soccer, I told Trevor I wanted to nap. I was hoping he would nap with me, but the youngest one decided not to nap, so Trevor stayed up as well. Almost 2 hours later, yes, TWO HOURS!!!!! Trevor came and woke me up. I was shocked at the time. He said, "well, lets bathe the boys and we'll just have that out of the way." So, I did and then went down stairs. I noticed the house looked different and he saw my face. Things had just been put back in their place and organized. He said, "We (meaning my neighbors) decided last night to have game night." I said, "Oh, okay, who's coming?" He mentioned two families and I said, okay. He said no one really had time to prepare anything so I told them to bring it over and I'd get things ready.

When we do game night everyone just brings stuff to share, appetizers, chips, etc.... At one point, I said to Trevor, we have a lot of food for 6 of us. But really, this isn't abnormal. We ALWAYS have more food than we need.

I quickly swept and mopped the floors because even though it was just my neighbors, my house was pretty dirty. Trevor told me, "You should go change." With a sigh, I did. Man, I just wanted to be comfy. Since it was just game night, I threw my hair back, threw on some yoga pants and a homemade-blinged out shirt I made for a run I did with some friends at school.

At 7pm, my neighbor and her kids came over. She made her famous guacamole! My fav!

Then someone knocked on the door and in comes a friend who is NOT a neighbor. I said, "UH.. hi... its not game night huh?" I kind of caught on. More knocks, more friends and their kids. Cards and presents and in walks Trevor with a cake!

WHAT!!!?? You threw me a surprise party? How did he pull that off? He told me to nap and if you know me, I will NEVER pass up a nap!

I was totally shocked and can't believe no one spilled the beans. He had even invited friends from work, which is quite the drive for them.

Check out all that food! How did I not catch on?
Here's a funny story... I love oatmeal pies,I mean love, no I mean, obsessed..... I have been known to buy a box of Little Debbie oatmeal pies and eat the entire box before the evening is over. For the record, I haven't done this since CJ was very little.... For this reason, I never and I mean NEVER buy them. I know myself and they have some crazy hold over me. I am just sucked in by their awesomeness. Well, after 6 1/2 years together, Trevor just learned this fact about me. How is that? I don't know. I guess because I know my weakness with them and just refuse to even go near the Little Debbie section at the grocery store. Well, now that he knows, look what he bought me? Sweet and kind of mean, all at the same time. But guess what? I learned that most people LOVE oatmeal pies and that plate was empty by morning! See, I am telling you, they have a hold on more than just me!

Another funny... On Thursday, Trevor said, "I want to make some foundant for something I want to try. Will you help me?" And as the dutiful wife that I am, I said yes. (Are you having to clean up the coffee you just spit out from me calling myself dutiful? Sorry.) Anyway, I helped him make foundant for MY OWN CAKE. HA! He is so clever! Check out the inside of this cake...

Opening Day is not a Joke!

Today is MLB Opening Day for the Astros! Beaseball is serious business in our house.

This was dinnner! All baseball park food of course.

Hotdogs, yes, wrapped in aluminum foil, nachos and "French fries". (keep reading)

This was the younger boys opening Day presents!

We can't wait to go to see the Round Rock Express, even if they are now Triple A for the Rangers. We will still support them. The boys are official members of "Spike's Kids Club". They got this cool shirt, a Spike blanket and 10 sets of 4 tickets for the BERM seating at the Dell Diamond. Its a really great deal for some really good family fun! And its only $20! If you are local, I highly recommend it.

Today is also April Fool's Day? Mom can not resist!

Remember this? This was last years dinner, we ate dessert first!

This year along with our baseball themed dinner, I made "French fries with ketchup". They are made from pound cake and red icing. Hollister saw the icing bag and said, "Can I have cake?" Really? We can't get anything passed him. I said, "its not cake, its french fries." He took a bite and said, "hmm. this is different." We just laughed. CJ did a good job of playing along. Heck, he got to eat with dinner, I'd play along too! I also played an April Fool's joke on CJ. I was cleaning up and saw that the red food coloring from the "ketchup" had spilled. It was everywhere! What a mess. It looked like blood to me, so I put some on my finger and called CJ downstairs. I acted panicky and said, "Hurry, I'm bleeding." He saw it and FREAKED! He started running around the kitchen loooking frantic and grabbed a paper towel... ran over to me... He was like, "Oh mom, what happened..." I couldn't contain myself and just started laughing. He did not think it was so funny. Mom thought it was HYSTERICAL!!!

My napkin had lots of splotches of red food coloring. I had another idea....

Trevor had been across the street during my trick on CJ. So I walked across with the napkin on my nose. My neighbor said, "What's wrong?" I said, "Oh bloody nose." It was dark so they couldn't see, but Trevor and both the neighbors told me where I should hold the napkin, etc.. to get it to stop. We started walking in their house to see something and when we went in, I expected them to check on my nose. No, nothing... so I said, "Uh.. hello? bloddy nose! April Fools!" They just scoffed. I told my funny story about CJ and at least they liked that.

No, I really don't like April Fool's jokes, but I do love tricking my family with fun foods. That I will always do! The laughs wwere "icing on the cake!" (Pun intended!)

Happy Birthday to me

Friday I turned the BIG 4-0!

I got the best of both worlds this year.

I spent my half my birthday weekend with the boys and half with just my husband.

My beautiful flowers sent to me from my husband (something he has never done, which made it super special!) and balloons from my school team mates. My team at school surprised me with cake and balloons!

My husband made a GREAT cupcake cake! Its awesome being married to a "baker".I had a great helper to blow out my candles with.

Present time!

I got a fun wine glass, books by my fav author and a much needed blow dryer!

Wine glass up close:Saturday afternoon, we were lucky enough to pack up and leave the boys with their big brother for a night away. We planned this to coincide with the Capital 10K run on Sunday. I was pretty content with just hanging out, going to bed early and waking up for the 6mile run. Well, my sweet husband had more in store for me.

We went to dinner at the Melting Pot, a fondue restaurant, which is a special treat no matter what the occasion. We took a carriage ride around downtown. So romantic and something he knows I have always wanted to experience. Lastly, he took me to another spot that I have been telling him over and over I wanted to try. Austin is pretty famous for food trailers. One extremely popular one is Hey Cupcake. No explanation needed right? I was thrilled at this adventure, but since we had just had chocolate fondue, we took them to go. We are also pretty picky about our cupcakes now with Trevor's new found baking abilities. Let's just say, it was the experience that counted, not the cupcakes. Most of all, it was that Trevor made this birthday celebration worth every second. Sunday morning, we rounded our weekend by running in the Capital 10k. This is the largest 10K in Texas. There were 23,000 runners. Since we were running I didn't carry my camera. We'll be e-mailed photos from a company and I'll pay an arm and leg for our photo because I just have to have one. Can you find us? I promise, we are in there!!!

This is how we feel when we are in the midst of running a run, running sucks! I personally don't get a "runners high" after running, but I was glad that we completed it. My sweet hubby ran the whole thing with me when he obviously could have finished it much faster. I was very pleased that we ran it in 1:10ish... I say "ish" because we had to stop at a porta-potty at one point.... When you gotta go, you gotta go!

GOAL!!!!!

Remember this sad boy?March 2010

Well, this past Saturday, he was this boy and HE SCORED HIS FIRST GOAL!!!

Sorry, no picture of the actual goal, but our boy has finally come out of his shell and will run and kick the ball.

Everyone went nuts when he scored because he was so close the week before and had come really close at the beginning of the game as well. When he scored, the crowd erupted and he just stood there, no emotion. Trust me though, he was excited! Now he is pumped and has talked non stop about scoring more goals.

We hope so!
Guess I'd better get my camera ready!

Milk and Cookies

Here he is with no pants on, but getting the cookies from the box again. Then washing it down with milk.
Just kidding! The jug is empty. He loves to play with them from the recycle bucket. I turned around and saw him "drinking" from it. Apparently this is not a learned behavior, just one boys are born with.

Luck of the Irish?

How lucky am I to have these cuties??!!

A St. Paddy's treat for my boys!

Hollister kept saying, "Thanks for the fruit on Patrick's Day Mommy."
Since Trevor was working across the street, we took him a small one for a snack.

We had green eggs on Saturday before the soccer game, we tried something different. This was actually dinner and green pancakes are really tasty!
