Western Days

It was Western Days here in Elgin the past few days. Its a city wide event with a carnival, parade, pageant, sporting competitions, crafts and fried food.

For us, Western Days is about the softball tournament. We entered last year with a rag tag team and had fun. This year, a more competitive team was formed.
We spent all day at the fields and had a good time. The team went one game further than last year.

In the elimination game, the team was down 10-5. They rallied back. With two outs, it was 10-9 bases loaded.... The hitter nailed  a great hit, but the short stop stretched and sno-coned the ball for an out. Heart Breaking to say the least.

Trevor played outfield. We had several tents set up back here the entire day. They played games at 10am, 3pm, 4 pm and 6 pm.
Trevor's last at bat. I moved way up to get these pics.

Here's this years team. Some we had just met, others are Elgin friends!

For the kids, Western days means the carnival. We have been driving by it as they set it up and as much as Trevor and I despise these type of amusement rides, there was no getting out of taking the boys to ride some rides.

The boys with Ryan and Cindy. They are spending the summer with these guys while I work.
How sweet is this boys face? His first roller coaster!
He held on the entire time!!!

Next was the spinning strawberries. They needed an adult, so Marissa, their other mother this summer, rode with them.

If you look really closely, you can see Hamilton at the far left, with his hands close to his face. Not sure if he is scared or not.

Trevor had to ride this ride with the older boys. It was that back and forth crazy spinning ride. The boys loved it, Trevor, not so much!
Hamilton was excited to do the dirt bikes since he wasn't tall enough for the previous ride.
 More sweet boy pictures.
Hollister thought it was funny to say, "Look mom!, No Hands!"
For Hamilton, next was the fast cars. He had some boys join him. He was completely fine with that. He would even smile at the camera when their mom was taking pictures. It was so funny.

Hollister and Trevor were riding the Ferris wheel while Hamilton was driving.
Hamilton wasn't thrilled to ride the merry go round, but we had to get rid of the last tickets. He is riding a rooster. Come on, how is that not fun!
See, by the end, he was happy! This was moms one ride. I know, such a daredevil!

It was a fun, hot weekend. So, today, we are relaxing and cleaning house. Except Dad and Hamilton. They headed up to see the remaining teams in the tournament. And of course, the rest of us are not shocked by that at all.

Father's Day

We celebrated our Daddy here today!
The boys gave Trevor a frame with their newest baseball pics. I love these pictures of the boys. I haven't shared the middle one with y'all because I wanted Trevor to see it first. These were the photos included.

I know I am bias, but check out that beautiful boy on the right!
Hollister is the most beautiful boy ever!

This was after a late, late breakfast at Mimi's.

Hamilton needed a silly photo.

We had a fun day of shopping and hanging out. Like always, I think Daddy bought the boys shoes and toys, Mommy a pair of shoes and nothing for himself. Good thing we opened gifts before we left today.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TREVOR T.
I LOVE YOU and I LOVE WATCHING YOU WITH OUR BOYS!

The last week of school

We just ended the last week of school.

On Tuesday, Hollister had field day. We weren't able to attend, but his teacher sent me this great picture!

On Wednesday, he had an award ceremony and his end of year party. Trevor made this great cake!

Hollister received several awards.
He officially became a 2nd grader.
The students received a medal and walked "the red carpet".

He also received a perfect attendance award. This year, he only missed 4 days total. Those 4 days were 2 surgery days and 2 recovery days.

This one was for being on or above grade level in Reading. Hollister's teacher called me later that day and told me Hollister is writing at a level 20. The beginning of 2nd grade students are expected to be at an 18. I am thrilled that he is slightly above. My goal is to keep him there this summer. Hollister has made great progress this year. He started 1st grade at a level 4!!!

This award is for being a "Roar" Student. This is a behavior award. Hollister is extremely well behaved at school and has never given us a concern in this area.

And this is his teacher, Mrs. Humes.  She is a fabulous teacher and we were so pleased to have her this year.

School ended Thursday for Hollister. He is now officially on summer vacation.

Here's the first and last day of 1st grade:

I realize the first day of school picture is blurry. Sorry about that. He has gotten bigger though. He is happy to be on summer vacation.

End of Season Party- Caution Cakes Ahead

Saturday we spent the day with our baseball team celebrating our season as the Mets.

We played a lot of kickball, had a bouncy house, hamburgers, hot dogs and CAKE!

It was a really fun time. The weather was great. It did get pretty hot in the afternoon though.

Trevor made this AWESOME cake for the team.

Hollister playing shortstop
This kick was foul, but check out that jump!
Hollister running to first after a good kick!
Hamilton played as well. he loved being involved in the game.

I guess Hollister learned how to jump from his Dad.

Trevor also made a cake for one of the families on our team. It's the youngest child's first birthday. His mom wanted a mustache cake.

Water Day

Hamilton had water day at his day care last week. Since it was after school, Hollister was able to participate.

It was chaotic and fun for them both!
I will let the pictures tell the tale:

The boys had a really fun time. Then we were off to baseball. Yes, they slept pretty well that night!
