July Update: Part 1

It was way past time for an update.

Actually, the past 5 weeks have been very full. I have lots to share.

I am sure things will not be in chronological order. That may drive me crazy, but some things are easier to post about and take less time. Plus, I need to get my pictures in order and that could take more time.

We finished summer ball.
This was almost the same team we played with in the Spring. It was hot, but we had a good time. We played in a small tournament and the boys received medals. It was a long hot day. A great way to end the summer season.

So, this past month, Trevor and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary. We celebrated the week prior to it in Vegas. It was a wonderful trip!
Happy Anniversary Baby!

And yes, Vegas baby! We spent one week in Vegas with two of our couple friends. That post will have to be separate though.

When we returned from Vegas, Hamilton had his first T-Ball practice. Hamilton is finally old enough (almost) to be on his very own team. That is all he has talked about. He loved playing with Hollister's team and being the "bat boy", but now it's all about him.

He got his very first pair of non hand-me-down cleats.
He carried his very own bag down to the field.
And then he cried and wouldn't participate.

Typical 3 year old I guess. Trevor is not the manager, but he is helping out. Hamilton finally warms up and participates, but it is after much drama. He says he doesn't need practice, just wants to play in games. It's going to be a long season I think.

And Hollister had another ear surgery. If you are keeping count, this make FIVE! This is the third on his left ear. That's the "bad ear".

The surgery lasted almost 4 hours, not a good sign.

Afterward, we learned that instead of building a prosthetic to help him hear better like the previous surgeries. The doctor actually went in and cleaned out his ear drum. A prosthetic is not an option any longer. Hollister will not hear in this ear without a hearing device. He currently has rolled up gauze in his ear to help the canal enlarge. It will come out in a few days. Due to this, his recovery is different. We have bandages to change and care to give to this ear daily. Trevor does this very well.
Here is the "tat" he gets before surgery so the doctor works on the correct ear.
Here is what he does before surgery, games!

Here is the after. This is minor. The first few days it was draining a lot.
Here is what he does after surgeries, uh... games!

Hollister is more vocal about his dislike for all of it. He is tired of it all. For now, we have no surgeries planned for the future. But, this is an ultra marathon, this will never end. Because the nature of this surgery, his ear will take longer to heal. Afterward we will begin a protocol study involving less evasive care. It will involve MRI's and CAT scans. We will learn more about this in a few weeks. Stay posted!

Okay, time to work on the next post. hope you enjoyed this one! I promise to catch up and keep everyone informed, eventually.
