Travis S. Hodges

We started school this week, I am sorry this is late.

In this house we think of you all the time. Hamilton has your middle name and it is called a lot.
"Hamilton Shane!" gets in trouble a lot! (I am sure he takes after his Daddy though, not his uncle)

Hollister and Hamilton playing remind your brother of you and him growing up.
Thankfully, it brings a smile to his face.

We miss you!

Short and sweet, but on the actual day!

Happy First Day of School!

Building Project

We recently cleaned out our garage. I found these.

They were given to me when Hollister was born for the two older boys.

Yes, Hollister is 7 years old! We have had them that long!

And yes, the older boys never made  them.

Well, Hollister is really into "arts and crafts". He digs through my trash to make stuff. He is very creative.

He isn't patient though and this project had to be done over several days.

Day 1
Handy Daddy to the rescue.

Hamilton didn't like the hammering noise.
Day 2:
They sanded while Daddy was at work.

Later on Day 2:

 Day 3:

The finished projects! Stickers and all!
They love their lockers and have them filled with toys.

Dentist

The boys had check ups last week. This was Hamilton's first experience with x-rays.
He watched Hollister. When it was his turn, he did not start out happy. I know the picture is not great, but you can see his lips pursed together.
 Still not seeing it.

Not sure what she said or did, but he bought into it and was quite the trooper. He loved seeing his teeth.

Next was the cleaning for both. Hollister was first and then watched TV afterward. Their TVs are in t he ceiling for kids to watch during the cleaning process.

Hamilton did pretty well too. We go to an all children's dentist, they know what they are doing!

Vegas Baby!

So, once again, we vacationed in Vegas this summer. And when I say we, it does not involve kids of course! Well, not OUR kids.

It has officially become a "couples" vacation. Last year we went with one couple, Monica and Victor. This year we included another couple, Gary and Marissa. Both couples have been our friends for years. We met both couples through baseball. But, our friendship goes far beyond that.

We originally planned a five day vacation. Then Trevor found out his reunion was there the day after we were leaving. We extended our trip by 3 days. One full week in Vegas! WOW! What could we possibly do for a full week?
Oh trust me, we found lots to do. The pictures are not in chronological order. I have no clue what night we did what. Seriously? Who cares, just enjoy the pictures!

The guys the first night.
 The girls the first night.

 Us, the first night

The one thing we really wanted to do was see The Jabberwockeez show. They are a dance group. They originally won America's Best Dance Group. They were really good. We truly enjoyed the show. These pictures were in their shop. Pictures are not allowed during the show.

One night, we went to the top of the Stratosphere. Wow, very high! These are their funny sayings on the tables. I guess to get your mind off how high you are.

Did read that one? yes, 896 feet! That is high people!!!

We also rode the Eiffel Tower Experience at The Paris Hotel. Trevor and I had done this before, but it was nice with our friends too. This is the perfect spot to watch the water show at the Bellagio Hotel.

Of course, we ate amazing fun and walked our butts off! We walked everywhere!

I took this picture and sent it to tease CJ. I know, rubbing it in to my son is not nice, but it was fun!

We got to eat at In & Out Burger. This, we took a cab to. Then four of us walked and walked and walked to a movie theater for a free showing of Red 2. I think that day we thought we would fry from the heat. It was unbelievably hot. It was so hot when we got to the theater and waited, Trevor laid down on the floor (we were in a mall), put his head down on my lap and went to sleep. If you know Trevor, that does not sound like him at all.
This is him after his nap. He is happy and cooled off at this point.

The movie was really good. It was free too, so it was even better. But, dang was it a long walk and HOT. Walking back was so much easier and quicker. (it was dark by then)

We spent a day at the pool too. It was so pretty, very relaxing and perfect for the weather we had. H-O-T all week!

We rode the bus downtown to check out the Pawn Stars Shop. It was little. We were not impressed, but now we can say we have been there.

We also saw Carrot Top. Seriously, he has been around forever,  but seriously, he is freaking funny! It was a GREAT show!

We also decided to do a dinner show. We choose the Tournament of Kings Show. We knew it would be okay, but we didn't have high expectations. There was jousting, dancing maidens, and fireworks.

This was our food. Notice there are no utensils. The food was actually extremely good and even Trevor, the picky one ate most of it.

What we learned if this is Vegas, baby! They know how to do shows and feed large crowds.

Everything was well worth it! The food was really good and the show was super entertaining.
Us at dinner

This is Trevor being funny!
This is a toilet game. Trevor eating his Dilly bar before the dinner show. He was afraid the food wouldn't be good. He was wrong, but he did enjoy dessert before dinner.

This is my trying to be fashion forward. Cute shoes, right?

This is me after the bus ride down the strip! Yep, not even after walking, just riding a bus. EPIC FAIL!

I had to buy band-aids for EIGHT DOLLARS at Wal-greens. Nope, not worth being cute. My feet are still healing weeks later.

Oh, and that reunion I mentioned. Trevor's 25th... we didn't go. He just used it as an excuse to extend the trip. It worked! :)
Us, again.

And yes, next year's trip is already in the planning stages!

July Update: Part 2

I know, it's August, but I gotta finish my July stuff....

Last weekend was a busy one for us.

We had a birthday party to go to, but it was at a Jump House. Hollister was three days out of surgery; no jumping for him.

They had an air hockey table though. So I stocked up quarters and he played a lot. But, once the money ran out, he was not happy.

The party group
These pictures are a perfect description of how different Hollister and Hamilton are.

He did not have a good time, Hamilton did as you can see. He did enjoy the huge blow up chair and has found where he wants his birthday party though.

Yes, I felt bad he couldn't be part of it. It isn't fair, I know.

Thankfully, later that night we were lucky enough to score some Round Rock Express tickets for a Kid's Day Extravaganza. We met some friends there as well.

Home Depot was having a Kid's Craft. They built toolboxes. PERFECT!!!

 Hannah helping Hamilton

Insert any caption here that you think is appropriate. (HA!)

Of course, Daddy had to help Hamilton too!

 Their finished products.
Jonah, Hannah, Hamilton and Hollister

And the Home Depot man was there too!

Then we walked around while Jonah and Hannah played at the kids play scape things. No need taking Hollister there when he couldn't play. I couldn't be the most hated mom of the day!

We ran into HEB Buddy. You can see their lunch boxes in this picture.

The game was great. Trevor didn't catch a ball like Hollister wanted, but he did catch a T shirt, in his glove!

Hollister really wanted to see Spike and get his autograph. He wanted Spike to sign his new lunch box.
The game actually went into extra innings and Spike was pretty busy getting the crowd involved.

Thankfully, after the game, kids were able to run the bases. Except, Hollister couldn't run. Not a problem, he could walk and we could walk with him.

Spike was on 3rd base giving high fives.

Hamilton took off and ran the bases like a pro. Sorry, no pictures. I was actually trying to chase him down because he took off so fast.

Trevor and Hollister "walked" the bases together and stopped at 3rd and Spike took a picture with the boys and signed Hollister's lunch bag.

His day was complete. He said several times how the game was more fun than the birthday party. I am so thankful our friends thought of us for their extra tickets!
