Remember the Alamo!

And now, time for the 4th grade field trip! I love that I had this opportunity and took off work even though I am out of days. Getting docked a days pay was worth spending it with my boy and his friends.

We've been waiting all year for this one. We have known 4th grade goes to the Alamo for a while. It has been a long wait, but finally, it is here!!!

Classmates and baseball buddies!
Jonah and Mathew

Funny thing is, I thought it was just to the Alamo, but I was mistaken.

We actually went here first.

I am so glad we did. It was awesome! So much to learn about our great state here!!!

Students got to experience what a school would have been like long ago.

A class clown getting a demonstration of how discipline was handled back in the day!
Don't worry, he didn't actually get spanked!

They got to see what a home would have looked like too. This was a two room home. They were intrigued by this.

An authentic log cabin too!

After lunch we headed to the Alamo.

And finally one of us together!

As you can imagine, the day was awesome!
I loved hearing the boys say, "best field trip ever" when we left!

Strawberry Patch Take 2

First things first: Hollister update
This boy is amazing. Healing super fast and never complaining! Fingers crossed, he'll play baseball tonight, first game since surgery!

And now, the kindergarten field trip to Sweet Berry Farms in Marble Falls.

I am lucky enough to have some super administrators that made it possible for me to attend this field trip!

Ready to head out on the bus!

Once we got there, the fun began.
This farm does field trips all year and they are so well staffed and prepared.

First stop: SPLAT!
They have made a game out of the "bad strawberries"
Each student got to shoot a bad strawberry in the gun and the class made a flag.

Then they learned about goats.

 Time to feed the goats!

He liked it, but this face says it all!
Time to wash our hands!
And yes, they had anti bacterial soap everywhere!
Now it was time to learn about planting pumpkin seeds.

And a moment for the teacher to add sunscreen to all the kids.
 It was H-O-T!

Next up, they learned how ladybugs help keep the aphids away from the strawberries.

Each student received a lady bug and released it into the patch.

Last, but not least... time to pick strawberries!!!

 Great choices!

 Some fun class pics!

And then he took a lunch selfie of us!

The day was super fun and a great break after a stressful week with Hollister's surgery.

Kindergarten is coming to an end soon.
Next up for this one: graduation...
Time is flying!

Mother's Day

I absolutely LOVE being a mom.

I love every stage my kids are in.

I don't get sad that they aren't little anymore. I am glad they are getting older, They are just as fun, more independent and it works for us!!

We were all able to go to the movies together. That was a rare treat!

CJ,  Hollister, Hamilton and I took in an Astro game Sunday in Houston.
Game was exciting and they won!

A super GREAT day just doing my thing,
being a
MOM!

Uh-Pen-Duh-Sigh-Tis

 Better known as appendicitis!!!

Hollister woke up Wednesday morning and told me his stomach hurt. I did the normal mom thing, "Where?" and then "Do you need to poop?"

Off we went to school. I knew from looking at him that he would never last the day.

I was right. I got the call around 10ish. Thankfully, I am right down the hall. I know his pain tolerance and I knew if he was complaining, something was not right.

I took him to Urgent Care close by. In less than 5 minutes, the doctor told me to go to Dell ER, He probably had appendicitis and needed a Cat Scan.

Honestly, only a little panic set in at this time. My concern was getting him there, making arrangements for Hamilton who was still at school and getting hold of all parties involved.

Things went amazingly well and fast from this point.

I have amazing friends and they were ready and available to help me at the drop of a hat.
It helped keep me at ease and I could focus on taking care of Hollister.

Hollister was checked out very quickly and scored 7/10 in favor of him needing his appendix taken out.

He had some blood work done. High white blood count,,, added another point... 8/10.

The ER doesn't actually do Cat Scans for appendicitis due to radiation, but an ultrasound could have been an option.

When the surgery team evaluated Hollister, they didn't feel an ultrasound was necessary because of all the signs.

Surgery was scheduled very quickly and by 4:15pm he was headed that way.

Thankfully this was caught EARLY. His surgery lasted less than an hour and it was very successful.
Sweetest boy ever!
Knocked out and resting!

He and I spent the night in the hospital.

He was pretty knocked out from all the medicine. Around 8:30 he got some visitors. He woke up and was still pretty groggy, red from being hot and not in the mood to talk.
Thankfully we had some amazing nurses and within the hour he was awake, little pain, cool as a cucumber and even talkative. The change was amazing.

After a short visit with his friends and dinner, he seemed so much like his old self.

His friends Jonah and Jack came to visit!

Even made some goofy faces for me!
So good to see him being silly again.

He went to the bathroom for the first time, which was a big accomplishment. Then he was ready for a walk around the nurses station. He needed to do at least 2-3 laps. He sped through 5, talking the whole time. It was wonderful to see.

He also had some breathing exercises and he did really well.

He and I watched videos together until we were exhausted and then we crashed.

Hollister slept through the night and woke up with very little pain.

He ate breakfast, walked, and did everything they asked of him in order to go home.

We were discharged before lunch.
He's home for a few days and taking a two week break from baseball.

So pleased that it was caught early and he didn't endure much pain for very long.
As always, Hollister took it all in stride.

My Favorite Ball Player

Just a quick post with some baseball stats.

Tonight Hollister was the starting pitcher for his team.

He pitched two innings.

He struck out a total of 4 batters.
He had 2 walks.
He only allowed 1 run.

He played 1st base in the third inning and was a part of all three outs that inning.
One of the outs was an overthrow to him at first base. He stayed with it though and got that runner out at 2nd! Great defensive play. #nevergiveup

Offensively he was just as spot on.
He had a triple, a walk and a single.
He had 2 RBIs and scored his own run as well.

Wildcats win 18-1

Tonight was all about being a "baller!"
