The Mc Donalds Challenge

Part of being a little league coach is teaching kids how to play baseball. There's quite a lot involved. I think Trevor and his coaches do a great job.

Our players have definitely improved. We have a great team this year and a great group of parents. And if you know anything about little league, you know that is not always the case.

During practice one day Trevor told the team that if they ever made a double play he would take them all to Mc Donald's for Happy Meals. He felt pretty safe that he wouldn't have to pay this bet off.

Each game our kids do okay. Some hit, some strike out, some throw,  some overthrow, they are getting better, but they are 6,7 and 8 years old. Trevor really wants them to have fun and get better.

Last Tuesday night though, they were amazing! First inning, one caught a pop fly for an out. Bottom of the first, we scored 5 runs!!! We were playing the best team in the league and we "run ruled them" in the first inning! They were pumped!

In the second inning our boys were still doing well.
Runners on first and second for the other team, batter up. No outs.
The batter hit a ball to our short stop, he grabbed the ball and tagged the runner from second to third out and then threw it to our second baseman. He got the ball and got the runner out. A DOUBLE PLAY!!!! It took a second, but all the sudden a few kids starting calling out, "Mc Donalds!" The other team was perplexed, but we all knew what it meant. Trevor just kind of looked at me. He said, "Hey, go back to work!"

The boys were beyond thrilled. They did well and knew they had earned free happy meals!

The coaches had to keep the boys focused though, we still had a game to play. We ended up winning the game. It was very thrilling. Our boys know how good this team is!!!
Every boy had at least one hit, and every boy got on base at least once. This doesn't happen every game.

So, this past Saturday, the entire team met at Mc Donlads and Trevor paid his debt.  The boys enjoyed themselves immensely.
