A "NEW" Kitchen for me!

Have you ever heard the saying that the plumber's wife always has running toilets? or the mechanic's wife whose car breaks down? Well, it means that her husband is so busy with his customers, he can't fix things in his own house or car.

My husband is not a plumber or a mechanic, but the same holds true for a handyman. We don't have running toilets or a broken car, but we have lots of unfinished projects. Now, don't get me wrong, this is not a post to complain about what my husband is NOT doing. Trust me, he is doing. He is VERY busy and that is why things are undone here in our own home. Plus he tells me, I am not a paying customer, so that is why things aren't done.

Well, I have a new kitchen to show off! In ONE weeks time I got a pretty drastic transformation completed in my kitchen. It is awesome and beautiful. It includes refinished counter tops, a new sink, new faucet, new garbage disposal, tin back splash and crown molding on the cabinets. I LOVE IT!! It was finished in time for Trevor's 40th party, so we got to show it off to.

I have learned a few tricks to getting things done round here... have a party or invite family for a visit!

This was our sink and faucet BEFORE. YUCK! This was the DURING. Yes, for those of you who know, in our Round Rock home we went about 2 weeks without a sink and I washed dishes in the tub, AND I was 9 months pregnant. Well, this time I was NOT pregnant and I was only without a sink for 2 or 3 days. This is AFTER! It is awesome. The sink is deep and now I can wash my fat baby in it if I want to! This is a view of the sink and window area BEFORE. This is AFTER. Isn't the tin pretty? Half the kitchen... BEFORE ..... AFTER
The crown molding is Trevor's way of making sure I don't put anything on top of the cabinets!
The other half BEFORE ... and AFTER

Counter space BEFORE
Funny thing, a year and a half ago, we painted the whole downstairs. This is the one side that never got painted for some reason. Remember, the "unfinished" projects... this was one of them.. now its painted, even behind the fridge!
Counter... AFTER, no, it doesn't stay this clean on a daily basis. This is where the toaster and coffee pot stay out at all times.
This is a portion of the counter. It was just yuck, this spot had a burn, just an eye sore...
AFTER... no more burn spot... This is not paint. It a refinish on the counter tops. We eventually will be replacing these, but this was a way to get new counter tops quickly and for less money. It was also a new project for Trevor to try. We are really impressed with the finished product. Our garbage disposal has leaked since we moved in. It has ruined the cabinet under the sink. We haven't actually used the disposal for a long time. This was just gross and it smelled too!
I don't have an after of this though. Trust me, its fixed and I have used the garbage disposal and it ROCKS!

Thanks for letting me brag on my hubby's work. He is so talented and I LOVE the work he does, especially in our own home!
