School Project

Hollister came home with his first school project last week. As most people know, that means the parents have been assigned a school project.

They are studying communities and the assignment was to build a replica of a building in our community. It didn't have to actually be something in Elgin which opened up some options for us.

We are procrastinators in this house, so Thursday after school, Hollister came home and said he wanted to build a bowling alley. The project was due Friday morning .

Of course, we were gonna get it done, but Wednesday night our water heater went out. So, Thursday after work, Trevor had to replace the old with the new. Hollister was very impatient, but he did wait.

And in good blogger fashion, here's the new water heater!
So AFTER hot water was restored in our home, project "Elgin Bowl" began!

Hollister found a box, the perfect box actually for the bowling alley. I spray painted it and we decorated with my scrap booking stickers. We use them a lot round here for everything but scrap booking.

Then Daddy made the magic come alive with his fondant made bowling pins and balls! That was Hollister's idea as well.
I know this picture is blurry, but he made some pretty cool bowling balls!

We had some wood floor left over which made a great bowling alley floor and then Trevor cut some rubber tubing for the gutters and viola', Elgin Bowl came to life!

We may be procrastinators, but we made it work! Hollister was thrilled and very proud of his project. He even came home and made his own Friday night. Look closely at his use of stickers and fondant for bowling balls.
